We want to give you the opportunity to get to know the contacts behind our technical solution better and in this article we will show you why a Product Owner is needed and what they do at finpair. Today in an interview with Christopher Wilkening. After training as an IT clerk and completing his studies in finance and business informatics, Chris completed a trainee program in corporate banking at NORD/LB. Chris has been with finpair for three years now and, in addition to working as a project manager, also plays the role of Prduct Owner.

“How did you come to Finpair? ”
I had my first contact with finpair during my trainee program. At that time, Finpair was still completely under construction and had not gone live. After various other positions in the trainee program, I decided to join finpair afterwards.
“What exactly is your role as a product owner? In addition to that of the project manager/structurer, you also hold this. ”
As a product owner, I focus, among other things, on prioritizing our development topics and specifying and defining them together with my colleagues from the specialist team. Based on my professional experience and IT background, this position is a perfect fit for me.
“What does your working day look like? ”
Extremely different, on Mondays, for example, I start the day with a meeting with the technicians to discuss the technical requirements that are to be implemented during the week. Through contacts with customers, I also regularly collect feedback, define new requirements, coordinate with colleagues and prioritize them. New features such as finpair.match are specified and tested by me until they appear live on the platform. But then there are also the structuring tasks of transactions from the role of project manager, as with Christian.
“Do you think our technical solution will prevail? Can you describe to us what makes this special compared to other solutions? ”
Yes, I do think that our solution will prevail and has already prevailed against competitors. Of a wide range of platforms that have been launched in the past three years, only three are currently really active and we are certainly among the winners of the gradual consolidation among digital platforms. We offer several advantages over an analog Schuldschein loan process and act individually depending on the issuers' needs. In this way, customers can structure their transaction themselves, if desired and have enough personal experience, and only draw on our advice when necessary. Finpair has many years of experienced originators who are always available to advise on the market and prices. However, the platform also offers, for example, the opportunity to initiate market sounding as pre-marketing in order to ultimately validate the spread indications and obtain the best price. Overall, with the help of platform technology, we offer our customers complete transparency about their transaction and investor feedback.
“A quick question at the end: Would you rather work remotely or in the office? ”
Definitely in the office, where you can communicate better with colleagues, but also 1-2 days remotely a week to focus on work (and save travel time).
